Stunning Sables

Sable is very similar to red but with a pattern of black over the red as though someone had rubbed a sooty glove over the back of the dog.  Often the sable will have lighter colored areas where the "points" would be on a black Cardigan, some sables are very light with only a small smudge of black on the tail, others may be so heavily overlaid with black as to appear to be almost tri-colored.

Father and son:      Jasper & Cobol

American/Canadian/Mexican/International Champion Davenitch English Toffee         American/Canadian Champion Aelwyd Pirate Program, Canadian CD

These two perfectly matched sables won Best Brace at American and Canadian National Specialties and back-to-back Best Brace in Show in all-breed competition.  Brace is a non-regular class so these wins did not add to the dogs' national standings.  We did this to illustrate the fantastic temperament of these two stud dogs who lived on opposite sides of the continent and saw each other about once a year, yet got along so well that they could be shown on a single leash.

Jasper was Winners Dog, Best Of Winners, Best Puppy at the 1990 Canadian National Specialty, and a Canadian Best Puppy in Group winner.  He produced National Specialty Best Of Breed winner (Cobol) a National Specialty Best Of Winners and Best Puppy (Cali), two Best Puppy in Group winners (Cobol & Cali) and two grandchildren (by Cobol) that were Winners or better at Canadian National Specialties from puppy class.

"Cobol," winning Best In Specialty at the 1995 Canadian National.  His Best Of Breed wins on this single weekend in Alberta ranked him as #7 Cardigan nationally for the year.  Cobol is such a special dog that he rates his very own page, so please follow the link to his page and meet the dog known as Pond Scum.

"Audrey" came back to me at the age of 10 months.  After two months in her new home she had won 12 points and her first major, Best Of Breed and Best Opposite Sex over champions and finished with a 5 point major and BOW at the Orange Empire supported show. Her first show as a special she was BOB over a large entry and pulled in Group.

Congratulations Renay, Karen, and Shannon, for doing a great job with this young beauty!
